Looking for a fun, low-prep way to review any topic while keeping your students engaged and excited? Breakthrough is an editable PowerPoint and Google Slides game that combines knowledge, strategy, and a little bit of luck.

Here’s how it works

• Divide students into teams.

  • Team 1 starts by clicking on a question box. A question appears. The team answers it aloud.

    • If correct → move on to the Breakthrough Board to choose their “prize.”

    • If incorrect → the other teams get a chance to steal.

  • The Breakthrough Board

    • When correct, teams move to the breakthrough board and choose a tile to break.

    • Each tile hides points, a penalty, or a special surprise.

• Add, subtract, swap, or trade points based on what is revealed.

• Repeat steps with the next team. Continue until time runs out or all questions are used.

Easily Editable: This game is customizable! Simply edit the 50 question slides to fit any subject or grade level... perfect for math, science, history, ELA, and more!

Resource comes as zip files.

The PowerPoint Version is a Macro-Enabled Presentation. Meaning: Some coding has been added so that when you run it in presentation mode, it will randomly choose certain slides for you — making your game even more fun and dynamic. To make sure everything runs smoothly, you’ll need to enable macros. Directions are provided upon download.

NOTE: The PowerPoint and Google Slides versions of this game work VERY differently and can’t be interchanged. Directions are provided for both.
